We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how we protect it. It is written to align with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

This website belongs to MECAON, a MOBICON company. “MECAON” is a MOBICON trade mark. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean MECAON and, where they help to handle your enquiry, the MOBICON group companies named below.

2. What we collect

Information you give us. When you send an enquiry using our form, we collect:

• your name;
• your company name (optional);
• your email address;
• your phone number (optional);
• the branch you choose;
• the product category you are interested in; and
• your message, and your confirmation that you agree to this policy.

Please do not include sensitive personal information (for example health or financial details) in your message.

Technical information. Like most websites, our web server automatically records basic technical data in its logs, such as your IP address, the date and time of your visit, the pages requested, and your browser type. When you send the form, your IP address and the time are also included in the enquiry email to help us detect abuse.

3. Why we collect it

• to reply to your enquiry and provide the information, quotation or product you asked about;
• to follow up on your enquiry as part of normal sales service; and
• to keep the website secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix technical problems.

We do not use your information for unrelated purposes, and we do not add you to marketing mailing lists without your permission.

4. Lawful basis

We process your personal information on the basis of:

• your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box when you send an enquiry. You may withdraw consent at any time (see “Your rights”); and
• our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, following up on sales, and keeping our website secure.

5. Who we share it with

To handle your enquiry, we share it within the MOBICON group, in particular with the MANTECH Electronics branch you select (Johannesburg, Durban, Gqeberha or Cape Town), which handles sales of MECAON products. Our website host and email service providers also process the information on our behalf, only to deliver the website and email.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only disclose it to anyone else if the law requires us to.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires. After that, we delete or de-identify it. Server logs are kept for a limited period and then removed by our hosting provider.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. These include an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, checks on the enquiry form, and limiting access to people who need it to answer your enquiry. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
• ask us to delete your personal information;
• object to us processing your personal information, and withdraw your consent; and

9. Cookies

This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and it does not set any cookies of its own. We do not use third-party analytics. If this changes, we will update this policy first.
